This year's hikes on New Year's Day are CANCELLED due to record low temperatures. If you are enjoying the outdoors on your own please follow the National Weather Advisory Guidelines on dressing for extremely cold weather. Don't forget pets get cold too. Have a safe and happy New Year!

1:00 p.m. from South Gate of Prospect Hill Park, by 186 Prospect Hill Road

Start the New Year with a trek up Prospect Hill, where the expansive view into Boston is just as rewarding as the treats we’ll provide. Perfect activity for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages. Folks wanting a longer hike along the Mass Central Rail Trail and paths in Berry Park should leave from Starbucks. Those seeking a shorter hike either along the paved (not plowed) occasionally steep service road or via the Wood and Boston Rock trails in the park should depart from the South Gate. All hikers should dress for the weather with footwear appropriate for icy conditions. Cancelled if heavy snow is falling.
